What the numbers show
Taxes on income, profits and capital gains (% of total taxes) is currently reported for 153 countries. The highest value is 93.0% in United States; the lowest is 1.7% in Bahrain.
The median across all reporting countries is 37.8%, and the mean is 38.7%.
The gap between the highest and lowest reporting country is a factor of about 53.
Over the past decade 114 countries rose and 37 fell. The largest increase was in Somalia (up 458.1%), and the largest decrease in Bahrain (down 81.7%).
