Analysis
The most recent figure for nitrous oxide (n2o) emissions from power industry (energy) in Laos is 0.0611 Mt CO2e, measured in 2024. That is the highest value across all 55 years on record.
Compared with earlier readings it is up 0.7% on the previous year and up 61,000.0% over ten years.
Over the whole period, nitrous oxide (n2o) emissions from power industry (energy) in Laos peaked at 0.0611 Mt CO2e in 2024 and was at its lowest, 0 Mt CO2e, in 2000.
That places Laos 56th out of 194 countries with data for 2024, putting it in the middle of the range.
The series is highly variable year to year, so single readings are best treated with caution.

About this data
A measure of annual emissions of nitrous oxide (N2O), one of the six Kyoto greenhouse gases (GHG), from electricity and heat generation (subsector of the energy sector) including IPCC 2006 code 1.A.1.a. The measure is standardized to carbon dioxide equivalent values using the Global Warming Potential (GWP) factors of IPCC's 5th Assessment Report (AR5).
